Protecting your baby from the sun is crucial. Even more when young children are more prone to heat strokes and heat exhaustion. Because of this, it’s important to protect your baby whenever you leave the house. And that includes dressing them in loose, easy-to-breathe clothes. This includes cotton onesies, shorts, sun hats, dresses, and sleepers. It’s always important to check your baby for signs of overheating or distress.

Apply Sunscreen

Protecting your baby from the sun’s UV rays is important to keep their delicate skin safe. Parents with children under 6 months, should apply a broad spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen. Children under 6 months should never apply sunscreen since their skin is too fragile.

Playing in the pool is one of the fondest memories most kids have during summer. But as fun as it is, parents should practice extreme precautions to avoid drowning. If your baby is under 4 months old or can’t hold his/her head up, then they aren’t old enough to play in a pool or any water source. Always make sure they are never alone in the water and only do so when accompanied by a reliable adult.

If your baby is old enough to swim, don’t immerse them completely in water. Some babies haven’t learned to hold their breath which can result in drowning or swallowing of water. This can lead to the intake of bacteria that can cause stomach problems or diarrhea.
